Greetings -
On June 5th, the Sierra Chapter gathered for our annual Summer Social at Cafeteria 15L in Sacramento. It was a fun evening of good food and conversations. Special thanks to Donald Blackburn for organizing such a great event. In addition, we held our traditional passing of the gavel ceremony as I presented the President’s gavel to your incoming President, Donald Blackburn. It is also worth noting that Donald follows in the footsteps of his father, Tom Blackburn, in carrying on a Blackburn family tradition of serving as Sierra Chapter President.
This event gave me the opportunity to reflect on my term as your Chapter President. I am proud of the things we have accomplished as a Chapter in the last year, but I am even more excited about the future with Donald at the helm. Our success as a Chapter this last year was due to many individuals such as your Vice President – Donald Blackburn, Secretary/Treasurer – Lincoln Leaman, Chapter Directors, Past-Presidents, and of course, our former Executive Administrator – Debbie LoCicero and new Executive Administrator – Stepanie Crary.
Donald and Lincoln provided exceptional support to me on Chapter-related matters, and I have the utmost confidence in them moving forward this next year. Stephanie also has had a very big pair of shoes to fill, and she, too, has done an exceptional job embracing her new role. I also wanted to thank every one of you who attended a Chapter meeting, an event, or participated in a state committee over the last year.
It has been an honor of mine to serve as a Chapter officer and Chapter President. While we faced unexpected challenges over the last year, I feel we have set the Chapter up for continued success. This experience has been a unique and rewarding one, and something that I will value for the rest of my career. Most importantly, I value the friendships I have developed through ACEC and will continue to participate in the Chapter.
In closing, thank you to all of you who have supported ACEC.
Happy Trails ~
Erik
